2025 Ramona Residency Open Call

Residency Details

Ramona Residency will offer four, two-week-long fully funded artist residencies for mothers and their families, in Houston, Texas. Artists working in any visual arts medium and at any stage of their careers will be considered. Please note there is not a separate studio space, therefore artists who are able to work within the home or on the outdoor back deck are encouraged to apply. Artists from anywhere (including local artists) are welcome to submit an application, however no travel stipend is included.

The residency includes furnished accommodations/studio, $250 materials stipend, and a $250 childcare stipend. Four artists mothers and/or female identifying caregivers will be selected through this open call process. Half of our residency slots will be offered to BIPOC women. The residency will accommodate one artist and her family at a time.

Residency Expectations

The aim for Ramona Residency is to not only provide support for the artist mother but also to enrich the Houston community through opportunities to engage with the artist directly and the residency program. Each resident will have the opportunity to meet with local curators and artists. Additionally, the residency concludes with an open studio and/or artist talk. Each resident is asked to donate a work for a future exhibition and fundraiser for Ramona.
